Sexual Addiction Self Assessment

  •  Do you keep secrets about your sexual behavior or fantasies from your spouse or partner?
  • Do you feel as though you lead a double life?
  • Have you had sex with people, or in places, you are ashamed of?
  • Have you found yourself engaging in sexual behaviors that you once considered "crossing the line?"
  • Do you need greater variety, increased frequency, or more extreme sexual activities to achieve the same level of excitement or relief?
  • Do you, or have you ever, masturbated at work?
  • Does your use of pornography occupy large amounts of time and/or jeopardize your significant relationships or employment?
  • Do you feel ashamed of the amount of time you spend looking at online or printed pornography?
  • Have your sexual preoccupations and/or behaviors led to the demise of your relationships time and time again?
  • Do you frequently want to get away from a partner after having sex?
  • Have you ever tried to stop certain behaviors only to find yourself engaging in them again and again?
  • Do you masturbate as a means of coping with stress, adversity and/or life's challenges in general?
  • Do you feel shame or guilt after a sexual encounter?
  • Have your sexual practices caused you legal problems? Could your sexual practices cause you legal problems?
  • Do you consider your sexual partners to be "objects" whose only purpose is to fulfill your sexual desires?
  • Does your pursuit of sex or sexual fantasy conflict with your moral standards or religious beliefs?
  • Do your sexual activities involve coercion or violence?
  • Have you put yourself or others at risk for sexually transmitted diseases?
  • Has your sexual behavior or pursuit of sexual relationships ever left you feeling hopeless, alienated from others, or depressed?
  • Do you have guilt or shame around your masturbation "habits?"
  • Do find yourself spending large amounts of time in pursuit or grooming potential sexual partners?
  • Does your preoccupation with sexual fantasies cause problems in any area of your life - even when you do not act out your fantasies?

Intimacy Anorexia® Self Assessment

 

Answer yes or no according to how your spouse would answer.

  • Withholding love from your spouse the way you know to or how they have asked to be loved.
  • Withholding praise or appreciation from your spouse, not sharing with your spouse about their positive qualities as a person and his or her positive impact on your life.
  • Controlling by silence or anger as a way to push away, punish or control your spouse.
  • Ongoing or ungrounded criticism toward your spouse.
  • Withholding sex from your spouse, avoiding having sex, sabotaging sexual encounters or not connecting emotionally during sex.
  • Being unwilling or unable to share feelings with your spouse.
  • Staying so busy that you have little time for your spouse.
  • When issues come up your first reflex or response is to blame your spouse.
  • Controlling or shaming your spouse in regard to money spending.
  • Withholding spiritual connectedness from your spouse.
  • Do you feel more like a roommate than a spouse?

Five or more "yes" answers indicate the presence of Intimacy Anorexia® as defined by Dr. Douglas Weiss, PH.D.
